Wilderhoods West End is kick-ing off 2024 with a working bee as we start to build our “creek to creek” habitat refuge for woodland birds (including the blue fairy wren) and pollinators.
Part 1 - 9.30am
Meet on Gingell Street at the bottom of Thomas street on the footpath near the creek.
Start mapping the existing habitat for our woodland birds so we know where to target future garden and nature strip plantings.
[NB: wet weather plan is meet at 12 Thomas St]
Part 2 - 10.30am
Gather at a planting site on Thomas St to do some digging.
What to bring?
Bring walking shoes.
Shovel, mattock or garden tools for our hard Castlemaine soil.
Hat, sunscreen or raincoat depending on the weather.
Water bottle.
A chair to sit on, if you would like to stay for part 2 but need somewhere to sit/rest.
Who can attend?
Participation is free and open to anyone living in the West End who wants to be involved in the Wilderhoods project.
Please RSVP to kslandvogt@gmail.com so we know who to expect, including any accessibility requirements.
At 11.30, we may head up to 12 Thomas St for a cuppa to finish the day.
